WEEK 10 #23 THE END
At the beginning of this project I was unsure whether I wanted to participate, the reason being is that I am not computer savvy at all and was not sure if I would have time to work on the weekly exercises. Now I'm glad I did because everything I learned was useful and interesting. My favorite programs were Flickr and Zoho, I will be using those at home in the future. This project opened my eyes to a whole new world on the net, it was fun to see that the net is much more than just shopping and emails and it was specially nice to find that you can use all those sites for free! Hcpl is very up to date with Web 2.0 tools, like email messaging and the digital media catalog, downloading ebooks, movies and music, which is great for people that cannot physically go to the library. Overall, I enjoyed working on my blog it has been a very positive experience for me. Thanks!

WEEK 9 #22 DOWNLOADABLE MEDIA
I looked into Wowio,Librivox and Hcpl's digital site and found Hcpl's site more to my liking. I was very impresed to see we even have Spanish audio/video materials. I found a book called "Jerusalen-El Caballo de Troya 1" and a movie which I had seen about 30 years ago when I was a child still living in Mexico called "Cada oveja con su pareja". Hcpl's digital media site is very extensive and caters to even the most demanding, but what really amazed me, is to see it had foreign language materials. Great job!

WEEK 9 #21 PODCASTS
Aaaggghhh!!!I went to PodcastAlley and did a search on book reviews and public libraries it gave me 200 choices each. There are so many it was hard to decide on one that could actually talk about several of my interests but I did find one which is the one I posted.
WEEK 9 #20 YOU TUBE
I have to say I'm a huge fan of you tube and I just have to share this funny video. I tried to paste the video from you tube to my blog but was unsuccessful, so I just posted the link to it instead. I hope you all like it as much as I did....

WEEK 8 # 19 WEB-BASED APPS
I created an account with ZOHO writer and found it easy to use. I think it's great how you can do so many things from there instead of having to go to different places to do your jobs. I created this post from ZOHO Writer it's totally cool!!

WEEK 8 #18 SOCIAL NETWORKING
What I learned of social networking is that it's another tool for people to communicate with others that share the same interests and want to know what they think. What concerns me is that most of these sites require personal info, which will make you easy target for identity theft. However, I'm rather old fashioned and like to communicate with people in person.

WEEK 7 #17 ABOUT TECHNOLOGY
I think all these new gadgets are great, but I also find them overwhelming. It seems that people never catch up with the latest technology or maybe for a while you do, until something better comes out. It is also costly and a lot of people cannot afford to have ,at least, a computer at home, that's why it's a great asset to any community to have a public library that will allow people to have access to some of that technology. Overall, technology is great and progress is just a click away!

WEEK 7 #16 WIKIS
Since the only wiki I was familiar with is "Wikipedia" this lesson taught me about many of the wikis out there and opened up a whole new door to explore for me. It's interesting to learn all the ways wikis can be used for, especially at the library level where it would become a great tool for our customers to read and write reviews on books or suggest good restaurants, etc. in the community.

WEEK 6 #14 TECHNORATI
As the saying goes..."You learn something new everyday". While doing a search in Technorati for "Learning 2.0" I came across a lot of information, but one blog in particular caught my eye about a website for learning different languages for free, which I think is great info to pass on to our patrons which are looking for free ESL lessons. I believe Technorati is a great tool for Reference Librarians.

WEEK 5 #12 ELF
Elf was very nice and helpful to me! I can't live without him anymore! Harris County has this service already, but it doesn't hurt to be covered twice.

This is my first time to visit this site, it's great. I'll make sure to recommend it to our patrons!
WEEK 5 #10 IMAGE GENERATORS

WEEK 4 #9 FEEDS
I tried all four feeds but found Feedster to be the one that would best meet my needs.
WEEK 4 #8 RSS AND NEWSREADS
Setting up an account on bloglines was simple and I found some really cool bloglines that I'm sure I will enjoy. It's just so amazing how with just a click of a button you can go anywhere and learn so much! I know I haven't even reached the beginning of what is out on the web for us to use. It's fascinating!

WEEK 3 #6 FLICKR MASHUPS
I really like this program, it was very fun to do. This was the only setting I liked for this photo, the other ones didn't match very well. Next time I want to try to do the BLOG HEADER located under flickr toys. (photo by alexmusic03)

WEEK 2 #4 ONLINE SAFETY
I really don't feel comfortable sharing any personal information online. When I do, I make sure they have a secure website, especially when shopping online.
WEEK 2 #3 BLOGGING
I realize that it's easier for me to learn with hands on training, but the hardest thing for me will be to find the time to complete the assignments.
